MY WORK
Strong Girls United
I am Founder and Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, SG United Foundation. Our Mission: To empower girls to be strong, confident, and resilient through sports, mental health and well-being activities, and mentorship.
Girls involved in sports and physical activity are:
- More likely to lead a healthier life.
- Less likely to get into drugs and alcohol, or smoking.
- Less likely to get cancer, diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, and other chronic diseases.
- Less likely to get pregnant as a teenager.
- Have lower rates of depression.
- Are more likely to get higher grades and more likely to graduate.
These are just a few of many reasons why I believe it’s important to get youth girls involved in sports and supplying them with tools to keep trying new things, not give up, and have FUN while doing so. We offer 1:1 mentoring program, community based teams, events, and more!
Boston Children's Hospital
I collaborate with a team at Boston Children’s Hospital for their Cardiac Fitness Program. The Program is an exercise and educational program for those with congenital heart conditions and pediatric-acquired heart disease. I authored a guided journal, titled VICTORY and we continue to create curriculum for patients, families, and the healthcare workers. We aim to help kids not only feeling that they CAN be physically active but they can do so with belief, self-confidence, compassion, and a greater sense of gratitude.
MINDFUL PERFORMANCE TRAINING CENTER
Welcome to your personal training center. This online self-paced course gives you tips and tools that promote greater well-being and maximize performance – on the playing fields and in your life as a whole. Twelve "Huddles" take you through the training center where you learn about mindfulness, creating your vision, goal setting, gratitude, confidence, failure, resilience, and other topics in the field of positive and sport psychology.
RESET
(Resilience and Enhancement in Sport, Exercise, and Training)
I work with Founder Ashley Kuchar and colleague Danae Frentz on the Fail Better Training team. Grounded in evidence-based research, RESET is a program that supports adaptive coping, well-being, and sport performance. RESET is adapted from the Mindful Self-Compassion program and is geared specifically for athlete populations. Throughout this resilience course, you will learn various tools and skills to help you “bounce forward” more effectively from mistakes, setbacks, and other adversities that are a normal part of the sport experience.
